The trunks are one organism. Gold in October, white all year. The fence is there so the clone can send up new stems. This is Pando on the Fishlake plateau, not a roadside aspen turnout.
Pando is one quaking aspen on the Fishlake plateau — a single root system sending thousands of stems. Gold in October, white all year, the clone is fenced so new suckers can rise. This plate is the named organism above Fish Lake, not a roadside aspen turnout and not the Boulder Mountain groves.
