Sheer De Chelly sandstone walls rising from a living canyon floor of farms and cottonwoods. Spider Rock is an 800-foot twin spire.
Field note
Families still farm the floor. The rims are public; the canyon itself is Navajo land, walked with a guide. Sunset on Spider Rock is the photograph; the cottonwoods in October are the secret.
