A closed basin of Entrada sandstone weathered into thousands of mushroom hoodoos — goblins — standing on a floor of crumbly red earth.
Field note
The goblins are balanced caps of harder sandstone on softer stems. You walk among them, not around a rail. Few people; a lot of silence and a sky that feels too large for the valley.
