Twin fourteen-thousand-foot peaks of maroon mudstone rising over a glacial lake. Classic Elk Range horn and cirque.
Maroon Lake is a tarn at the foot of two nearly identical horns. Autumn aspen and first snow often share a single morning. The rock is crumbly Maroon Formation, not granite.
