Field note
Closed Canyon is a slot in volcanic tuff. The Solitario is a collapsed dome the size of a town. Presidio and Lajitas are the towns. This plate is Big Bend Ranch State Park, not Big Bend National Park and not the Chisos.
Big Bend Ranch is the desert the national park does not own — Closed Canyon, the Solitario, the River Road. Presidio and Lajitas are near. This plate is the state park, not Santa Elena and not the Chisos.
