Landform

A river that cut the Cascades. Basalt cliffs, hanging waterfalls, and a wind that never quite stops.

Field note

The gorge is a gap the ice-age floods widened. Multnomah is the famous veil. Rowena and the eastern oak hills are the dry side. The river is older than the range it crosses.
