A solitary Cascade stratovolcano rising 10,000 feet above its own forested base. Glaciers, meadows, and a lenticular-cloud weather of its own.
Field note
Shasta has no neighboring fourteeners. From the meadows the peak is a single white cone. The national forest around it is fir, cedar, and a lot of quiet road.
