A trio of Cascade volcanoes — North, Middle, and South Sister — above lava, fir forest, and a wilderness of lakes.
Field note
The South Sister is the one people climb. The wilderness around them is a Saturday of lakes and a Tuesday of emptiness. From the west the peaks rise out of old-growth Willamette fir.
