Landform
Soda Lake, an alkali playa, with the San Andreas scarp and the Temblor Range beside it.
Field note
The BLM manages Carrizo Plain National Monument between the Temblor and Caliente ranges. Soda Lake is the alkali playa. The San Andreas Fault is visible as a scarp across the plain. Painted Rock is a sandstone hold on the edge. Superblooms are not guaranteed; the landform is the reason for the plate.
