Field note
Smoke Creek Desert is a playa basin in northwestern Nevada, north of Pyramid Lake. The BLM manages most of the ground. High clearance is the practical vehicle, and the basin is a long way from services. Pyramid Lake is the water plate to the south; this plate is the dry floor.
