Field note
Wisconsin State Parks holds Devil's Lake in the Baraboo Hills. Quartzite bluffs rise about 500 feet above a lake the last glacier dammed. Balanced Rock sits on the East Bluff. This is the Wisconsin lake, not Devil's Lake in North Dakota. Apostle Islands is the other Wisconsin plate, out on Lake Superior.
