Sea stacks off Rialto Beach, Olympic National Park
Landform
Pacific cobble and sand at the Quillayute River mouth — sea stacks, a Hole-in-the-Wall sea arch, and giant driftwood logs near La Push
Field note
Rialto Beach sits on Olympic National Park’s coastal strip west of Forks, near La Push and the Quillayute River mouth. The parking lot opens onto cobble and sand with offshore stacks and whole-tree driftwood. April through October is the best window — winter swells and creek crossings are harder. From the lot it is about one mile along the beach to the Hole-in-the-Wall area; Ellen Creek must be crossed, and reaching the arch needs a low tide — check a tide chart. Backcountry campers must camp above the high-tide line. Driftwood fires are allowed only in existing fire rings. Drive Mora Road — five paved miles from WA-110 (La Push Road), past Mora Campground — to the lot. An Olympic National Park entrance pass is required ($30 per private vehicle, good seven days). Note: Mora Road beyond Mora Campground is closed to cars, bikes, and people from July 8 through October 15, 2026, so Rialto Beach cannot be reached during that closure. The Hoh Rain Forest and Ruby Beach keep their own Olympic plates. This plate is Rialto Beach, not Second Beach and not the Quillayute Needles.
