Field note
The BLM manages the Terry Badlands Wilderness Study Area near Terry, Montana. Banded sediment, sandstone spires, and a natural bridge sit above the Yellowstone River. Routes in are rough; high clearance is the sensible vehicle. Makoshika, farther west, is the state-park badlands on another plate.
