Landform

The largest intact tract of old-growth bottomland hardwood forest in the United States. Champion trees, seasonal flood, and cypress knees.

Field note

Bald cypress and water tupelo stand in black water. Some loblolly pines here are among the tallest east of the Mississippi. The boardwalk keeps you just above the flood.
