A slow, shallow river of grass. Sawgrass prairie, mangrove maze, cypress domes, and the meeting of temperate and tropical America.
Sheet flow moves from Lake Okeechobee toward Florida Bay an inch at a time. Mangroves braid the salt edge; sawgrass owns the freshwater interior. Sunset is the hour the prairie becomes a mirror.
