Field note
The National Park Service administers Cumberland Island National Seashore, the largest barrier island on the Georgia coast. Maritime live-oak forest, dunes, and feral horses share the island. Dungeness is the ruined estate on the south end. A ferry from St. Marys is the usual way on. There is no bridge.
