The longest stretch of undeveloped barrier island in the world, on the National Park Service's account, with Laguna Madre behind the Gulf beach.
Field note
The National Park Service administers Padre Island National Seashore and describes it as the longest stretch of undeveloped barrier island in the world. The Gulf beach faces east and Laguna Madre lies behind the island. Kemp's ridley sea turtles are released from the seashore. South Padre's town is not this plate.
